BREAKFAST CLUB GOES TO FROBISHER PRIMARY SCHOOL

The second breakfast club was launched at Frobisher Primary School in Jaywick, Clacton-on-Sea in January 2013 with members of the Gracelands and Greggs management team visiting the school in April. Forty young students enjoyed their breakfast amidst a morning of fun with balloons, special cupcakes and a surprise visit by Pudsey Bear and Hope.

Since the launch of the breakfast clubs, the schools have reported a number of successes:

  • Teachers and parents working together to promote healthy eating and the importance of having breakfast
  • Pupils who had been persistently late now arriving at school on time
  • Pupil behaviour at breakfast club is consistently good
  • Groups of older pupils walking to school together, stopping off to collect each other along the way
  • Students improving their social and communication skills as the breakfast clubs encourage engagement in activities and social interaction with their peers
  • Excellent attendance rates at the clubs with increasing numbers wanting to join due to the club’s growing popularity
  • the breakfast clubs are a topic of conversation in the local communities

For Gracelands, it is very rewarding and satisfying to know that our small contribution and support for these clubs is making such a big difference to these school communities.
