Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), often referred to as “people, planet and profit”, is about how we, as a business, manage our impact on the environment, on the people we interact with day-to-day and on the communities in which we work. At Gracelands we make it our business and priority to be as eco-friendly and as low-carbon as we possibly can.
Being energy efficient
Energy efficiency is about optimising performance in a low-carbon environment. That means we aim to be as ‘green’ as we can be managing our costs and risks whilst reducing our CO2 emissions. We work on the principle that optimal efficiency in the use of water, gas and electricity in the home or commercial environment is the result of a number of contributing factors, including:
- Age and physical condition of equipment and systems
- Operational performance and reliability of equipment and systems
- Suitability of equipment and systems for the task/environment
- Customer knowledge and awareness of the importance of being energy efficient
Putting it into practice
At Gracelands we have set our business a ‘carbon footprint’ which includes a number of ongoing initiatives:
- Reduced business mileage through smarter geographical deployment of engineers
- Vehicle replacement scheme using hybrid fuel and energy efficient alternatives
- Enhanced stock control systems to optimise frequency of deliveries
- Increased responsible waste management
- Reduced energy consumption within our office
- We are raising awareness of the gas & electrical industry through Work Experience opportunities
- We continue to invest in skills training e.g. Apprenticeships
- We provide a safe and healthy work environment for our people
- We support and assist community projects
- We offer Work Experience opportunities to local schools and colleges
- We give preference to local businesses and suppliers where practical and appropriate
